Blake Griffin, the superstar forward of the Oklahoma Sooners, is fast becoming legendary in slam dunk circles. This guy is throwing down dunks that you just do not see every day. The Sooners star is averaging over 20 points and yanking down 14 boards every single game, but that is not what is popping all over the internet. Blake Griffin is an absolute elite level dunker.
The next time you get a chance, run the term Blake Griffin through Youtube and check out the videos. This guy is unreal, and people are starting to notice. It makes one salivate just thinking of him starring in the NBA slam dunk contests in the near future. He reminds me of a young Michael Jordan in the air, in spite of the size and positional differences. He is that good.
Slam dunks are all about style and flair. They can certainly be about power, but it is the special dunker that can mix all of these things like Blake Griffin. He can execute pretty much any dunk that I have ever seen, and do so with pizzazz. Windmills, 360s, reverse dunks, and even the kiss the rim are all a part of this kid’s repertoire. That is a nasty slam dunk package when you consider that he is 6′10″ and 250 pounds. He is not exactly that long and lean type that you expect to be able to do these things.

Griffin has the all around game that will make him a huge success in the NBA as well. He can hit the mid range stuff, and can even post up some centers. Griffin will likely be a small forward in the NBA to create match up problems. I envision him being a Dirk Nowitzki type player, except with incredible athleticism to go along with it. That is one scary package when you think about it.

Will Griffin end up being among the slam dunk legends? Will he join Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins, Vince Carter, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant and the like? That remains to be seen. But as far as the college game, he is as good as I have seen when it comes to the most exciting plays in basketball. The NBA should be an interesting playground for Blake Griffin.
